VOLMA Gips Active is intended for internal single-layer gypsum plastering on walls and ceilings with the help of a plaster unit as well as for surface glazing without additional filling prior to application of decorative coatings (paint, decorative compounds, wallpapers, etc.).

VOLMA Gips Active is applied in premises with standard relative humidity at 5-30°C.

-brick (ceramic, lime sand, hollow tile, etc.)
-concrete (cast-in-situ, plates, and other concrete and reinforced concrete structural elements);
-cement and gypsum blocks, polystyrene concrete;
-gypsum board and gypsum fiber sheets;
-old cement, lime, and gypsum plaster;
-porous concrete, cell concrete, foam concrete;
-smooth stable bases finished with decorative coatings.

Warning! All bases shall be plastered upon application of a primer coating matching the type of a given base. We recommend you to pad smooth poorly absorbing bases with VOLMA-Contact and strongly absorbing bases with VOLMA-Universal or VOLMA Plast.

A base shall be dry, durable and have no dust, dirt, oil stains, and peelings. Eliminate large variances. Treat the metal elements with an anti-corrosion compound. The maximal acceptable humidity shall not exceed 5 %. The base shall not be frost bound, and its temperature shall be at least 5°С.

Remove dust, dirt, and peelings from the surface and form release residues from the concrete. Eliminate large variances and protect metal elements against corrosion. Apply the primer matching the surface type.

Smoothen the surface by fixing at the external angles during plastering along the guides with the plaster mortar of VOLMA Gips Active or VOLMA Montazh adhesive. Apply the mortar to the surface and internal side of the angle bar, press the bars to the base from the center to the edges.

Set up the pump for operation according to the instruction manual. Assure water supply and connect to the power source. Set the consumption of water coming to the pump in conformity with required mortar consistence. Assure that the operation area allows walking with a mortar gun. The grouting hose shall have no overbending and loops preventing the plaster mortar flow. The hose shall be long enough not to be strained.

To apply the mortar, stand sideways to the treated surface, take the mortar gun in one hand and the hose in the other at around 50 cm from the gun bottom. Open the air-relief valve and wait for 10-30 seconds until the mortar starts to flow. Fill deeper openings and cavities first, then apply the mortar to the lines between the angles (wall-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall, wall-to-floor).

Then apply the mortar to the plastered surface according to the following rules:
- apply the plaster mortar to the wall surface top-down, i.e., start from the upper angle;
- apply the plaster mortar to the ceiling surface from the side opposite to the windows (from left to right);
- hold the mortar gun perpendicularly to the treated surface at around 30 cm between the surface and the nozzle;
- apply the mortar in strips of around 70 cm in length. Overlap each following strip with a covering of 5-10 cm;
- close the air-relief valve on the gun upon applying the mortar to the surface;
- screed the applied mortar with an h-shaped floater.

Check for the horizontal deviation of the surface using a level, a string, or a mould.
-take the mortar gun, open the air-relief valve, and apply additional mortar in areas lacking mortar.

Warning! You may apply the second layer only if less than 30 minutes have passed after applying the previous layer; otherwise, apply the second layer only after the primary layer has hardened. Assure that the mortar in the hoses and the mixer remains immobile less than 15 minutes. Wash the pump and the hoses with water after the end of work.

When the plaster layer starts to set (90-120 minutes upon tempering), level the surface with a trapezoidal floater, holding it perpendicularly to the base to cut abundances and fill cavities.

To prepare the surface for colouring, float the surface in 30-40 minutes upon trimming with a spongy patter wetted in plenty of water. Then wait until flat finish and trowel the plaster with a wide metal putty knife.

Wet the plaster with plenty of water within 24 hours but no sooner than 4 hours upon preparing the mortar and smooth over with a metal putty knife. This procedure makes additional surface puttying unnecessary.

The plaster surface may be given different patterns or textures by treating it with a patterned fillet mould or structuring it with a moulder tool after leveling, i.e., a darby, a spongy hand float, a putty knife, a scrubber, etc.

The dry-out time depends on the plaster layer thickness, indoor temperature and humidity. A 10 mm layer becomes dry for 5-7 days on average. Assure good indoor air ventilation so that the plaster dries out as soon as possible.

We recommend you to treat dry plaster with VOLMA-Universal for better adhesion during follow-up wallpapering and painting and protect damaged metal dots against corrosion.

Use clean tools and capacities made of stainless steel, aluminum, or plastic because unclean tools and capacities reduce the plaster mortar service life. Wash the tools in water after work.

The works are performed by a mechanized squad of 4-6 plasterers using a set of equipment;

Output:

30-50 m2/shift per one skilled plasterer;
100-150 m2/shift per one mechanized squad;
2500-3000 m2/month per one mechanized squad.

Store the bags with VOLMA-Gips Active on wooden pallets in dry premises. Pour out the mix from damaged bags to sound bags and use this mix first and foremost.
The guaranteed storage in sound manufacturer’s pack is 12 months.
